The history of the faculty , which is one of the youngest faculties of KSU, began on May 18, 1998. Candidate of Pedagogical Science, Assistant Prof. N.Levchenko was unanimously elected by the academic council as the Dean of the faculty. He also became the head of the department of theory and history of Ukrainian culture. Since September 24, 1999 the department of choreography, headed by Honoured worker of Culture of Ukraine V.Tchuba, began its work.
Today National artists of Ukraine V.Tchupryna, L.Sydoshenko, A.Panasyuk, Honoured workers of culture of Ukraine S.Martsynkovsky, V.Tchuba, I.Pashko, N.Levchenko, Members of Union of artists of Ukraine N.Krugla, S.Kurak are working at the faculty.
Students of the faculty are engaged in the followng task groups: "Human being and its inner world" (the leader is V.Filipova, Assistant Prof. of the Department of Pedagogic Science and Psychology), "Treasures of material culture of the Ukrainian South" (the leader is O.Golykova, senior teacher of the department of theory and history of Ukrainian culture).
Student's theatre (art director is L.Lymarenko, senior teacher of the department of theory and history of Ukrainian culture); theatre of dancing "Ladovitsa" (art director is the senior teacher of the department of choreography V.Vasyak), ensemble of modern ball dances (directors are I.Bondarenko, O.Fokyna), ensemble of classic dances "Divertissement" (art director is the senior teacher of the department of choreography I.Tchavyna), ensemble "Tchybaryky" (art director is the Honoured worker of culture of Ukraine V.Tchuba) work at the faculty.
Among students and graduates of the faculty one can find well-known masters of art: groups "Step", "Indigo", leaders and members of dancing theatre "Rhythms of the Planet" (Mykolayiv), staff of the Shevchenko's regional creative house (Kyyv), members of the ensemble "Pulse", vocal groups "New Duet", "New Project" (Mykolayiv), soloists of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and others.
Along with the scientific and teaching work on specialist's training in the sphere of art culture teaching, the faculty permanently popularizes the achievements of the national art, takes part in the cultural and charity arrangements. Performances of magistral and student's theatres for inmates of children's homes, orphan-asylums, boarding schools, holding of the festival of choreographic mastery of collectives from the South of Ukraine "Lel'nyk", participation in the creative reports, music and dance festivals of Kherson, Kherson region and Ukraine, have become already traditional.
The humanities, social and economic, psychological and pedagogical disciplines are taught at the Artistic and Pedagogical Faculty. A cycle of the fundamental and professional oriented disciplines are taught at the faculty as well, videlicet: the history of all kinds of art, methods of teaching of art culture, fine arts, choreography, a cycle of special disciplines on fine art, choreography, psychology; a special attention is paid to psychology of art, communication; to formation of director and histrionic skills. The teaching is carried out in specialized lecture-rooms, training rooms, choreographic halls, and creative workshops.
A considerable heed is given to students' and staff creative work, the result of which is the scientific-methodic development of theoretical problems in the field of art culture, performance of magistral and student's amateur theatres, exhibitions of works of art, concerts, etc. The work of creative collectives is a component part of teaching and educational process.
An essential part of specialist's training process at the faculty is practical studies conducted at schools, museums, specialized schools of culture and the like. The aim of the practical studies, conducting among the students, is to master the modern methods and forms of labour organization in the sphere of education, to gain the professional abilities and experience of work in the real market and production conditions.
All-Ukrainian seminars and scientific-practical conferences on the problems of art culture are held on the base of the Artistic and Pedagogical Faculty of KSPU. Thus, in February 25, 1999 the urban scientific-practical seminar on the subject "Formation of national culture among pupils by means of dramatic art" took place.
In September 21-22, 2000 the All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference on the subject "Formation of national consciousness among youth by means of art culture" successfully worked. In May 12-13, 2000 the conference on the subject "Formation of civilized habits of communication by means of choreographic education" took place.
The student's summary scientific-practical conference is carried out annually at the faculty.

The faculty conducts specialists' training on the day form of instruction, instruction by correspondence and at the external studies at the expense of state budget, juridical and natural persons as well.
