Educational and professional perspective.

For provision of increasing of teachers' scientific potential the faculty has:

  • Master study
  • Post-graduate study
  • Doctor study

The institute trains specialists for government order and for juridical persons' accounts on the basis of the contract concluded with them.

Chairs of the institute provide teaching of fundamental, special and professionally oriented methodical disciplines, and also special disciplines of the second foreign language course and speciality "Fundamentals of Informatics. High-qualified specialists train students on foreign languages and literature. 42 teachers have academic and scientific degrees. Among them there are 2 Academicians, 3 members of home and foreign Academies, 7 Doctors of Sciences - professors, it composes 70% of the total teachers' staff.

All Chairs have close relations with academic scientific organizations and other educational establishments of Ukraine and foreign countries, namely Russia, Moldova, Poland, Great Britain, Germany and USA. The leading home and foreign scientists are invited for special courses' reading and seminars' holding. At the same time the teachers of the faculty read lectures in universities in Poland and USA, work on probation in Universities of Germany, Great Britain and USA. The Chairs have close relations with American House and British Council, whose branches are situated in Kiev and Odessa. The students, undergraduate and graduate students take active part in All-Russian and International Programs of teaching foreign language as a second one, receive educational grants for studying abroad.

The institute uses funds of British Council's Library. In 1999 the faculty received a grant, due to which library's funds were replenished with editions of world literature in English.

The institute and scientific library were given 250 volumes of World library in English for the active work of the Chair. Almost all of the teachers of the Chair are the members of TESOL of Ukraine.

Since 1995 foreign citizens, namely from Turkey, study at the faculty. They are receiving qualification of a teacher of English Language, Russian Language and literature in national school.

The institute is occupied in active scientific, methodical and social work, namely there is a student scientific society, student dean's office and press-centre, hobby groups, miniature theatre which is the member of Ukrainian league of the Club of the merry and smart, and also 16 problem groups on the questions of Linguistics and Literature study. The Chairs regularly develop and edit textbooks, teaching aids and methodical references for the students of full-day study, study by correspondence and external study forms for the provision of teaching philological cycle disciplines. A great attention is paid to the work on school youth's professional orientation, the teachers work at KSU lyceum, centre of entrants' preparation and its branches.

Perspectives of the future job placement:

The graduate students of the faculty receive qualification of a teacher of foreign languages in a secondary school, but received speciality allows them to work in many other spheres. Many graduate students of the faculty work in specialized schools with profound study of English language, lyceums, colleges, gymnasia, institutes and universities not only in Ukraine and its capital Kyiv, but in foreign countries as well Private corporations, companies and firms invite the faculty graduates to work as consultant secretaries and consultant translators. The institute graduates work successfully in the translation office, state and public establishments.
